Six Hours & Thornewood Castle
Some weddings come across your screen and you immediately think, I want this one.
Diane & Jeremiah’s wedding was absolutely one of those weddings for me.
I first saw Diane in a Facebook wedding group looking for a bilingual wedding coordinator for her June 26, 2026 wedding in Lakewood. As someone who speaks both English and Spanish, I remember thinking, okay, this is my time to shine.
Then Diane messaged me and casually dropped one pretty important detail:
They were getting married at Thornewood Castle.
And when I tell you I wanted nothing more than to be part of this wedding...
Diane and I messaged that morning, talked around lunchtime, and by the end of the day I was officially contracted as their wedding coordinator.
She was the absolute sweetest from the beginning. She told me she already had most of her vendor team together, but Thornewood felt complicated, she kept worrying that she was forgetting little details, and she needed help with her timeline and keeping everyone organized. She also specifically wanted someone bilingual because her decorator spoke Spanish and she didn't want communication getting lost between vendors.
Challenge accepted. 💚
First of All... Thornewood Castle Is STUNNING
There really isn't another word for it.
The castle, the grounds, the architecture—everywhere you turn there is something beautiful.
And Diane's dress?
That dress was built for a queen.
I had the privilege of going into the Mirror Hallway with her, and OMG. Seeing Diane in that dress, inside an actual castle, was one of those moments where everything just fit.
Pictures of Thornewood are beautiful.
Being inside Thornewood is something else.
But here's the thing about getting married in a castle:
It comes with certain guidelines.
And for us, the biggest one was TIME.
Six Hours. That's It.
For Diane & Jeremiah's wedding, we had Thornewood Castle from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Doors open at 4:00.
Everyone is out the door at 10:00.
That meant we had six hours for setup, ceremony, reception, dinner, cake, dances, celebrating AND cleanup.
Six. Hours.
Was I nervous?
No lie, yes!
As a coordinator, I knew exactly how quickly six hours could disappear. At Thornewood, there isn't an extra hour somewhere that you can casually borrow if things start running late. Every minute matters.
But I had a timeline. Diane had put together a great vendor team. We had communicated.
I knew it was doable.
And then June 26 decided to make things a little more interesting.
Oh... And It Was a World Cup Match Day
Because apparently coordinating an entire castle wedding in six hours wasn't enough of a challenge.
Diane & Jeremiah happened to get married during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, on a day Seattle was hosting a match.
And the traffic was BAD.
People were running late, and suddenly that very carefully planned six-hour window started feeling a whole lot shorter.
This is one of those things you can plan for, but you can't control. I couldn't move traffic. I couldn't magically get everyone to Lakewood faster.
What I could do was adjust what was happening at the venue and keep communicating.
And then...
Because It's Not a Wedding Day Without a Little Hiccup
We had a wardrobe issue with Diane.
And Dad came to the rescue.
He handled it, but between that and the delays getting everyone there, we were officially behind schedule.
At a venue where every minute counts, this could have completely changed the rest of the evening.
But it didn't.
We adjusted.
The photographer worked with me. Alexis with Rains & Vows worked with me. We figured out where we could make up time without making Diane & Jeremiah feel like they were being rushed through their own wedding.
Little by little, we got that timeline back.
That's the thing about wedding timelines that I don't think couples always get to see.
The goal isn't to create a timeline and then panic the second real life doesn't follow it perfectly.
The goal is to know the timeline well enough to understand where you can move things, where you can't, and how to get everyone back on track without making the couple carry that stress.
Meanwhile, Diane Was Being a Bride
This is probably my favorite part of the whole story.
While we were dealing with traffic, timing, a wardrobe hiccup and a six-hour venue window...
Diane was enjoying her wedding.
She wasn't standing there trying to figure out how far behind we were.
She wasn't calling vendors.
She wasn't trying to reorganize the evening.
She wasn't watching the clock.
She was with Jeremiah. She was with her family. She was celebrating.
That's the job.
And after the wedding, Diane shared a recommendation in a Facebook wedding group that meant so much to me.
She wrote:
“She took so much stress off of me.”
She also shared that having someone who spoke both Spanish and English had been incredibly helpful and that we were able to get their wedding back on track after falling behind.
That's exactly what she'd been worried about when she first messaged me. She wanted someone to keep everyone organized, help with the timeline, communicate with her vendors and make sure she didn't have to worry about all those little details herself.
And that's exactly what we got to do.
A Good Vendor Team Changes Everything
There is absolutely no way a wedding with this kind of turnaround happens because of one person.
Diane & Jeremiah had a TEAM.
When timing changed, people adjusted. When something needed to happen, people jumped in. And when we needed to make up time, we worked together instead of everyone operating in their own little bubble.
Their wedding vendor team included:
Venue: Thornewood Castle
Wedding Coordination: Emerald Events
Catering: Rice Water / Ntse Dej
Bartending: Sips with Chey
Decor: Rosas Y Violeta’s Decora
Event Staff: Elite Event Services
DJ: DJ Quick Hire
Cake: Seattle Bake Shop
Hair & Makeup: ClassyHMUA
Photography: By Penelope Sage
Officiant: Alexis with Rains & Vows
Diane later went out of her way to recommend her vendors publicly, and I think that says a lot about the team that surrounded them that day.
So... Is Six Hours at Thornewood Castle Enough?
Going into this wedding, that was the thing that made me the most nervous.
Coming out of it?
Yes.
Six hours at Thornewood Castle is absolutely doable.
But organization matters.
Communication matters.
Having vendors who understand the timeline matters.
And having people who can adjust when traffic, wardrobe problems—or apparently the World Cup —decide they would also like to participate in your wedding day matters.
You don't need a wedding day where nothing goes wrong.
You need a wedding day where you don't have to be the person fixing it.
Diane got to wear her incredible dress, marry Jeremiah in a freaking castle, celebrate with their family and friends, dance, eat, take beautiful photos and actually enjoy the wedding they had spent so much time planning.
And everybody made it out the door by 10.
We did it.
I drove home from Lakewood knowing two things:
Diane & Jeremiah were married, happy and had gotten to enjoy their day.
And if another couple asked me to drive through ridiculous traffic to coordinate another wedding at Thornewood Castle?
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Diane & Jeremiah, thank you for trusting Emerald Events with your wedding day. It was truly a privilege to be part of it.
